For your own protection

WOW! Our society has really gone a long way in such a small amount of time, that I sometimes feel trouble adjusting to this evolved state of being.

At some point in time (I have no idea when this happened) it was decided by our esteemed leaders, that humans were too foolhearty and dimwitted to make simple decisions for themselves. So, they decided that laws were needed to protect those that did not see the need to protect themselves. (example: helmet and seatbelt laws)

Here are a few such laws that I was not aware existed:

In the Montreal subway anyone caught going down the stairs without holding the railing can be fined 100$. Failure to produce proper identification can result in an arrest, followed by detainement in the local police station.

Anyone caught not locking their car doors in a public parking can be fined 45$

In case the sarcasm of my words did not make it's way through to your screen, WTF! is wrong with people!

Which people? Here's a short list:
The elected officials who agreed to pass these laws
The people who voted for them
The police who enforce these laws
The prosecutors who defends these laws in court
The judges who give these laws weight
And finally, the people who pay the fines.

PS: I got a fine yesterday because I didn't lock my car doors (a 17 year old volkswagon)

Physical Therapy...

Just a small comment on human behaviour this morning.

IF HOLDING A DOOR OPEN IS PHYSICALLY EXERTING, GO SEE A PHYSIOTHERAPIST!

My 6 year old can do it without breaking a sweat.
